Fixed Wing models

We offer Tuesday training evenings sessions from April to September. but instruction is available on other days throughout the year by arrangement with an instructor. We have a WhatsApp training group so instrucotrs and trainees always know when flying is available.

We have a 100% record in recent years for getting people through the BMFA A-test at first attempt. We cater for complete novices, pilots preparing to take the A-test or experienced fliers who have perhaps had a break from the sport or who just want to brush up on safety matters.

If you'd like more information about flight training and the BMFA A-test, have a look at the links below:

You can also test your knowledge of safety matters by following this link.

We offer a taster session to anyone thinking of taking up model flying using our club trainer. We can also then offer advice on a suitable trainer model and radio set-up. Helicopters

We do not offer formal training for helicopter flying. However we can put you in touch with someone who offers training for a reasonable hourly cost.

Alternately, informal help may be available from other members at the flying field if you have a basic level of proficiency and there is a WhatsApp heli group for communicating with other heli fliers. To find out more, come to the next club night and talk to one of our committee members who looks after helicopter flying. Next Club Meeting

The next club night will be on Thursday 23rd February, 8.00pm at

Meriden Community Centre, Garsmouth Way, Watford, WD25 9ET.

Rob is going to give a talk and demonstration of all things foam. Different types of foam used in planes, what glues you can use to repair them with pros and cons, types of protective coating and covering films available and what paints to touch up hanger rash. The talk will include examples of all the above and techniques for repairing your models.

For those who may not know how to use the BMFA online membership portal, and given the recent notice sent out about things that need to be done on the portal to allow the CAA to send out Flyer ID's, we will also demonstrate how to do this.

Needless to say there will be tea/coffee and edibles.

We meet at Meriden Community Centre, Garsmouth Way, Watford, WD25 9ET
